Buenos Aires Church 2024 Video

There is a new video on the church’s website. I’ve translated it below as Spanish practice, and corrected it with Google translate. I thought I’d publish the translation here in case any other English speakers want to know what it says (although my Spanish isn’t great and you could probably do just as well with a modern real-time translation app. But I need the practice.)

On Friday the first of May, 1992, during the mass, after communion concluded, the extraordinary minister found, on the corporal, two thirds of a host. Father Juan Carlomagno indicated that they be kept in a container of water in the Tabernacle. When wafers are found that are consecrated, they are either eaten or put in water, waiting for the form to be diluted, until they don’t have presence and the water can be thrown to earth through the sacrarium of the parish, in a flowerbed in a pot.

Since that moment on, day after day, they observed inside, but the wafers in water did not degrade. On the 8th of may, a festival is celebrated in our country of the Virgin of Lujan, Patron of Argentina.

<Text on screen> Father Juan Carlomagno, witness of the 1992 event, reading from his notebook what he wrote on May 8th.

<I’m confused about this next bit, because my understanding is that he is reading from his own notebook, but it seems to be in the 3rd person present tense. It’s probably just my Spanish>

On the 8th day, I wrote in 1992, when he was shocked. In the moment of the communion when removing the chalice with the consecrated hosts to distribute them to the faithful, he looks at the container and notices something strange. When he arrives from giving communion, he observes carefully inside the container and notes mixed and emerging from the pieces of bread pieces like blood clots. He kneels respectfully, closes the tabernacle, and finishes the mass.

<Back to the female narrator>

Then father Juan, without saying anything, asks the priest Eduardo and the deacon to go see the vessel, that has been in the tabernacle for a week. When they return they say that for them it was blood. Immediately they call the archbishop and a trusted doctor named Botto.

With the help of test strips on the reddish part, she confirms[1] what they assumed. It was blood.

They place the vessel inside a hermetically sealed plastic container and keep it in a safe that was in the sacristy. The archbishop says that on Monday the 11 they will go to the parish to see what happened. They ask for reservation and silence.

But on Sunday the 10th of May there were also events that attracted attention. In the 19th mass small fresh drops of blood appeared on the paten that they were using. In the following mass at 8:15PM, the deacon instructs the celebrant, Eduardo Graham, that there are drops of blood on this other paten shaped like a fish.

The next day Monsignor Miras arrives. He interrogates the priests and the deacon and takes information about what happened. It is the duty of the local bishop to send the necessary information to the Congression of the Doctrine of the Faith in the Vatican. With time, the ecclesiastical approval of these facts will indicate that they contain nothing contrary to the faith.

This is the sequence of photos in the following days about the transformations of the hosts. The red spot is advancing and in the center you can still see the white body of the host. With time, the water is drying. The appearance is like blood clots. Although the water had contact, it was not dyed and joined without being contaminated with the colour. The parts were joined together and no more water was added, allowing it to dry naturally, without any preservatives. Finally, after four weeks, there was no liquid left in the container.

<text on screen> In early 1997, it came off the bottom of the vessel.

Two years later, in 1994, on Sunday the 24th of July, during the mass with children, the minister of the Eucharist went to remove the chalice from the tabernacle. When he uncovered the chalice a drop of fresh blood is found running on the interior face of the chalice.

Then surprised, he goes to the altar. He shows it to father Juan. In that moment, the people who were at the mass received Jesus with this manifestation. When the mass was finished, Father Juan calls all the ministers, catechists, who were in the sacristy at that time and shows them what happened. Because he asked for reservation, which was what the bishop had initially told us. Reservation. Let this be kept confidential. That it should not be told until it was known what it meant. What was happening. Although we realized that something extraordinary had happened. But we obediently continue with this reservation.

The patron saint festivals involved working with the children from Mary. It was very hard. We were preparing all for Thursday, because the 15th day fell on Thursday.

<text on screen clarifies that they’re talking about the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary on August 15th, 1996>

<Rosa Ana>

The Sunday when celebrating the evening mass, a woman when they finished the communion, she approaches and sais the the priest: that she had taken communion but she wanted to tell him that in the wooden Christ that was on the right wing of the church, in one of the candelabras that were not used, there was a host. Then Father Alejandro headed to where the wooden Christ was, took the host, carried it to the alter and was going to eat it. But he saw some fluff because the place was dirty, and well, he decided to put it in a container with water. That is the procedure, either you consume it or you put it in a container with water and keep it inside the tabernacle. And then when it loses the form of eucharist bread it is thrown on earth.

<Alejandro Pezet>

Monday the 26ths in the morning. At that time the tabernacle was where the Virgin of Lujan is now. In the morning I went down to pray for a while. I was there when Emma approached me and said: Alejandro! Emma was always punctilious and careful. Look at it! Look at it! There is something strange in the tabernacle, on the host. Well, and I opened. And there I found it had the appearance of a clot, of something red that had fungus on it. Of course I had no certainty that it was that, but it was a sign.

<other man>

I learned more about the spiritual effect and the good that it is doing in the lives of different people and Carlo Acutis <the guy who made the Eucharistic Miracles of the World website> finished it off completely. It helped me very much to see because God has done these miracles.

May Blessed Carlos Acutis be here today through his relic. A first class relic, originally from Assisi, that is where Acutis’s body is. From there they have sent us this relic, that will remain in the parish. He has been a cyber narrator of this.

And now, as a kind of confirmation of this path taken, may he give us the presence of this blessed man. As if saying, look what they are doing, I also want to give you them, so that it can also help you in this broadcast, in this narration of the events that took place. There would be so many personal things to tell about each one of us, about things we have experienced, of things we are experiencing, of things we keep looking for that it would be endless what we could talk about. And it would always be richer and richer. The path continues to be interwoven with those before, with those after, with those of tomorrow, with those of the next generations. Because this is a sign in our life, in the life of faith of sharing the experience of Jesus in the Eucharist. Of Jesus the lamb.

<On the screen during the above. The images seem to imply that these words came from Forensic Analytical and Dr. Zugibe, but they did not. >

Nothing is possible

The sample corresponds to flesh and blood.

Containing human genetic code.

<This is in English, but note that they show sample labels for Forensic Analytics for both the dry and wet samples. This is the first documentation I’ve seen that the 1992 sample did make it to Forensic Analytics.>

The flesh is muscle of the myocardium.

It is a heart that has suffered trauma.

The heart had a dynamic (live) activity during the instant the sample was taken.

Do whatever He says.

<Back to the narration>

This personal experience, when we see the sign, when we let the gaze pass through us, and that overflows, makes us cross paths in such a particular way. In the neighbourhood, in the open neighbourhood, not only those who move in new or who come or have moved and come closer, but also those who come to see the sign which I show to the community. To facilitate that meeting with everyone who seeks it. It also took us a long time to realize it. If it happened in the public tabernacle and a Sunday mass, it is for all. The recipient is the community. It has helped us all a lot to grow that the Eucharist is not the property of the priests, of the bishop, of the Pope. The Eucharist is of Christ and of the Church, of Christ and of the community, of each community. Who also continues to share. Letting it speak in the life of each one in so many different unpredictable ways in the different moments of life. When shared it returns to the community and also it opens up to those who come from elsewhere to find out that the father has moved many people in different ways in the community and from far.

<I can’t read the handwriting on the screen but I think it’s from a guestbook>

To look and admire, praise the faith and discover what the Eucharist is in our lives, in many different forms each one of us. No one can come to me, if the Father doesn’t attract him. The bread of life calls us because the Father moves us and it is the gift of the Holy Spirit. It involves opening oneself to the ways of God. Intersect with others. Sharing, discovering charismas. Discover tasks, discover missions, community, individuals. The bread that is Jesus gives us life and it is the life of the Holy Spirit. That takes us where we do not plan or want but where we discover and open ourselves in that discernment.

<Text at end>

The sign that leads us to something greater: the Eucharist

 We invite you every 8th of the month to the mass with exposition and blessing of the Eucharistic sign. The adoration chapel is open permanently. Every third Friday and forth Saturday of the month you can listen to the complete narration of the events that occurred. Santa Maria Parish, 286 La Plata Avenue, Buenos Aires.

[1] I’m trying to refrain from commentary here, but I have to point out that test strips are all presumptive tests, they can’t confirm anything. They only rule out things that aren’t blood. You would need a confirmatory test to confirm it is blood.
